The Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Angelo State University volunteers to help by falling down
San Angelo, Texas; We hear stories about how college kids today exhibit bad behavior; drink too much; study less and on and on. Well, our hats off to an amazing group of young men from the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Angelo State University in San Angelo Texas that are literally falling for our seniors so that seniors at risk of falling will get the immediate help from a new technology developed when there is a fall.
Over a 2-year period, more than 40 students fell, fell and fell again – all for seniors. You see, the physical therapy school received an IRB approval to conduct a research study on how seniors fall. The students volunteered to measure the impact of falls; falling forward, tripping, falling backward and slipping on wet surfaces – all to test an algorithm that was being developed for a novel new fall detection device. They literally HAD to fall – wearing a MyNotifi® device. Students wore the device and purposely fell. Sometimes pretty hard. Each time the fall was recorded. In all, these brave students fell for the cause more than 40,000 times. In doing so, an algorithm was developed to assist countless seniors all over the country. The students shared that they had grandparents that fell and wanted to do what they could for other seniors. The MyNotifi® device can now accurately detect a fall and can act on behalf of the senior once detected and immediately summon help. All those bumps & bruises by the guys were worth it. They are saving lives.
MyNotifi® is fast becoming the go to device for countless seniors that are at risk of falling. MyNotifi® is the only no monthly fee senior alert and fall detection system that uses this algorithm (thanks Kappa Sig) and GPS to instantly alert family, friends & neighbors if and where a fall occurs. Worn as hideaway clip or wristband, MyNotifi® interfaces with any smartphone and can detect falls & summon help within seconds anywhere. Seniors will fall. And, 11,000 Americans become seniors every day. It’s never too early to start taking preventative action to maintain independence and stay safe. It’s no surprise that 87% of ASU graduates get job offers within 90 days of graduation and that The Wall Street Journal ranks ASU as Top 5 in the U.S. for producing the best-qualified graduates. Thanks you young guys for your amazing w
